The Punta de Mita Foundation has been created to serve the greater region of Punta de Mita, enhancing the quality of life for the people and communities in this area. This is a resident-led, community-based organization dedicated to assisting the communities of Punta de Mita to become good places to live, do business, work and raise families.
The Foundation provides capital, technical expertise, training and information, to support local leadership, better education and facilitate sustainable economic development. Our primary means of doing this is through helping existing non-profit organizations or helping to establish new one’s that can provide this support. Grant-making will occur semi-annually according to the following categories: education, environment, community development, and public safety.

This month Dr. Carlos Virgen Aguilar and a team of his students from the Centro Universitario de la Costa (CUC) in Puerto Vallarta will begin their work with the Punta de Mita Foundation's Smart Growth Committee on the research for the Smart Growth Report. This 16 week study will detail and analyze the social, environmental and economic needs for the communities of Punta de Mita, as well as give possible strategic solutions with the end-goal of achieving sustainable development in the region. This is a very exciting and one of a kind study that will be published in late November.

The new Executive Director, Erica Martling, has begun her job and is looking forward to meeting with donors and community members over the next month. Please visit our new office at 125 Calle Marlin in Corral del Risco. We will be sending out monthly email newsletters about the Foundation's projects and grants, as well as posting a photo gallery on the website. Starting at 7:00 PM attendees will be presented with an overview of the newly formed Foundation while being entertained and enjoying a cool cocktail. Richard Kiy delivered his report to the committee during a two-day workshop in Punta de Mita. At this meeting the mission, vision and guiding principles were established, as well as the members of the executive board. Lic. David Connell accepted to work pro-bono in helping us establish the legal framework of the Foundation.

The First annual Punta de Mita Charity Golf Tournament will be held on Nov, 23 and 24th , 2007 at the Club Punta Mita Golf Course. Year after year, this will be the most important event on our calendar of events in Punta Mita. The Golf Tournament will be a scramble format to ease the speed of play and in general, make it a fun event for players of all levels. All participants will receive a commemorative gift and special prizes will be given for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place foursomes. Prizes will include a trip on the Punta Mita Yacht, Dinners at the Residents Beach Club as well as special tours of the beautiful natural areas that the Punta de Mita region offers. We encourage residents to sign up for the Friday outing so we can have Saturday as open as possible for local players who could only play on Saturday. This is an open event and we look forward to your participation.
