HIGHWAY CLEAN UP INIATIVE

We are committed to create awareness and contribute to a clean and safe environment. Starting in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, 20 km of Carr. 200 Norte to Punta de Mita are free of litter, thanks to the cleanup efforts of the Punta de Mita Foundation. This is the first stage of a large-scale project that will rely on educational institutions, as well as small and large businesses in the area, to establish an educational program that promotes environmental cleanup of this important tourist area. The foundation also is conferring with the municipal government of Bahía de Banderas to fine those who litter.

We started in mid-February and have been able to remove 615 jumbo bags of trash.  This will be an on-going effort through the end of the year. This initiative is a result of an idea generated among residents in the area.   A group of concerned gentlemen who have contribute financially to make it a reality, thank you for your support!!

OCEAN CLEANING

One of the main tourist attarctions of Punta de Mita is its marine envrionment.  Whale whatching, fishing, snorkelling and scuba diving will not have a future if we do not start taking actions to preserve these valuable resources. We want to develop an organized society in harmony with the marine environment, the project scope includes improving quality of ecosystems and underwater environment around Punta de Mita, perform reef clean-up to keep them free of marine debris, help mantain the species in the area free of illegal nets and other fishing devices and develop educational programs with schools to promote a culture of environment conservation.  We are desperately looking for funding to make this project a reality....
